5 of the Best Sex Toys for New Lovers

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

If you are new lovers, introducing sex toys can be as uncomfortable as meeting her parents for the first time. What should you get? How should you introduce them? How to broach the subject? Here is a list of the top most popular sex toys for new lovers-simple enough to provide pleasure, unobtrusive enough to not scare her off.

The least intense introductory sex toy is not actually a toy at all, but a great way to approach the subject none the less. Massage lotions and personal lubricants, along with low lights, candles, and a romantic song on the CD player can open the door for more adventurous play later. Many of these are aromatherapy driven, and as everyone knows, smell is the strongest and most sensual of the senses. The addition of liquid pheromones can heighten erotic sensations for the both of you.

If all goes well, the next step up is couples sex play board games. These typically consist of card games that resemble the old “spin the bottle” ploy used on you as a teenager, but some are more intricate, containing items such as furry cuffs and light bondage equipment. If this is still a little too much, you can get something as simple as sexy dice which have suggestions for sexual positions, etc on them instead of numbers.

Next up is a variety of dildos and vibrators. She may have plenty of experience with vibrators, but hasn’t experienced the pleasure of you using one with her. Keep introductory vibrators and dildos simple, if you pull one out that resembles a sea urchin you will probably have her running for the next bus. Stay away from butt plugs and harnesses for now, but anal beads might be okay.

If you’ve gotten through the first stages and are ready to move on to more adventurous sex toys, you may want to try some bondage. Please read up on it first, as it is easy to accidentally hurt each other if you are unfamiliar with the equipment or the use of safety words. Simple restraints may be enough, but you might want to try nipple clamps, spanking, or just get a beginner’s fantasy kit, which includes a little of everything for the budding bondage enthusiast.

And finally, you may very well just get to the place where the two of you want to get really kinky. For this, you can purchase outrageous plastic cocks and huge fake fists. Or maybe you’d be interested in double-headed dildos for insertion into both her vagina and anus. You can even get ones that insert one end into his anus and the other into her vagina. Advanced BDSM collections include handcuffs, masks, and suspension gear.

Please remember that it is necessary to take proper care of all sex toys, making sure they are cleaned soon after each use and kept in a place where they will not become contaminated.

How to Choose the Right Personal Lubricant

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Have you ever wondered which personal lubricant is best for your needs? With so many kinds to choose from, it can be a little intimidating. Which one is best for use with condoms? What if you need lube for underwater play? And what about anal play? You may not feel that it even matters, but to get the best experience from your lubricant, you need to make the right choice.

Although there are many different brands of personal lubricant, they will almost always fall into three main categories: water-based, silicone, and oil based. Each different kind is best used in specific situations.

Water-based lubricants are the most widely available. They are also the healthiest for you, easiest to clean up, and are compatible with latex and many sex toys. They do have a tendency to dry out after some time, but this problem is easily overcome by simply reapplying more. Since they are water soluble, they are not recommended for use in the bathtub, pool, or spa. They would just breakdown almost immediately and be rendered useless.

Silicone-based lubricants have many exclusive traits that distinguish them from other personal lubricants. Unlike water-based lubes, which absorb into the skin, silicone stays put for a very consistent glide. It has the feel of oil, but doesn’t have the negative effect of breaking down latex like most oil-based lubes do. Another positive feature of silicone is it’s great for anal play. With its long lasting durability, it will stay smooth and pleasurable to the sensitive anal tissue. Since it’s not water soluble, it works beautifully in the bath tub, pool or spa. Silicone lube is not compatible with cyberskin or silicone dildos. You must always cover such toys with a condom prior to the application of silicone lube.

Oil-based lubricants are the least popular of the three. They are best used for anal play and male masturbation. Oil-based lubes will irritate most women’s vaginas, so should be avoided if possible. They should never be used with latex products as they will destroy them on contact. Although oil-based lube has its limitations, it is still worth mentioning since it does reduce friction dramatically which is always a plus. Just remember to use it in the right circumstances.

So now that you know the basic differences between personal lubricants you should be able to make an informed decision on which one is right for you. The Slippery Pie carries all these personal lubricants in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Many of the lubes mentioned above have added features such as a warming effect and flavors to please the palate while you please your partner. With such a huge selection, there is no need to ever be “dry” again. Smooth things out with some personal lubricant and enjoy your sexual experiences to the fullest.

Letting Loose With Lube

Monday, February 1st, 2010

There are three main types of lube out there today, and each one has many pros and some cons. Lube can enhance sexual pleasure for both parties involved in many ways. The main purpose of a personal lubricant is to reduce discomfort and pain by reducing friction. You can have a lot of fun with different sexual lubes, because some have a warming effect when they come in contact with skin, others have a numbing effect to make erections and sex last longer, some increase blood flow to the genitals when used, causing amplified sensations, and there are some lubricants that come in a variety of delicious, edible flavors. There are even a few brands that make lube that feels icy cool on contact.

While there are many benefits to using a personal lubricant when natural lube is low or not available (like for anal sex), there are some things that you should keep in mind when choosing one. First of all, you need to decide what kind of sexual activity you will be doing: masturbating, anal sex, vaginal penetration, or all of the above. Oil based lube is not recommended any time that sex toys, novelties, or birth control devices such as diaphragms and condoms are being used. Water based lubricants are safe to use with toys and birth control, but often dry out fairly quickly, so frequent applications are common, and recommended. Silicone based personal lubricants last longer than the water based ones, but can be hard to wash off and could cause damage to silicone toys.

Water based personal Lube that is flavored is for external use only, for example, for use while a woman is giving oral sex. Flavored lube is not recommended for use inside the vagina or the rectum, because the glycerin in them can cause infections, and the sugar will throw the delicately balanced ph off in the vagina. Lubricants that have a warming sensation are generally some of the most popular ones that people really enjoy. Another super popular type of lube is the lube that when in contact with skin, it relaxes the nerves at the area, increasing blood flow to the genitals. With more blood flowing, those genitals increase in size and sensitivity, totally upping your sexual experience and stamina.

For the most part, silicone based personal lubricant is recommended and almost required to have a positive anal sex experience. Silicone lube is generally condom friendly, and sex using toys like vibrators and dildos with silicone lube is not a problem. These lubes are thick and will not dry up quickly. Men who want a good lube for masturbating will generally like the oil based ones because they are smoothly slick, but again, do NOT use the oil lubes for vaginal penetration or with condoms or toys. For vaginal penetration, it becomes a matter of personal preference as to which lubricant feels the best (provided, remember, that it is not flavored).

If you are prone to yeast infections to begin with, look for the glycerin free lubricants. Always read labels carefully before you buy lube. Make sure that there is nothing used in the lube that you are or may be allergic to. If you and your partner are trying to get pregnant, there is some evidence that the chemicals used in all kinds of lubes are damaging to sperm, so take that into consideration if you need to.

Even though there is a ton of things concerning lube to watch out for, keep in mind that once you get familiar with the different types, you can experiment more freely and be on your way to new erotic sensations thanks to lube.
